    Chocolate Cake Recipe

    Ingredients

    For the Cake:

    • 1 2/3 cups superfine sugar

    • 3/4 cup softened butter

    • 4 medium eggs

    • 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour

    • 5 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder

    • 2 tablespoons milk

    For the Fudge Frosting:

    • 1 cup heavy cream

    • 1/4 cup butter

    • 3 tablespoons honey

    • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate

    For Decoration:

    • Sliced almonds

    • Shaved chocolate

    • Cherries


    Instructions

    1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    2. Prepare the Pans: Line two cake pans with baking paper.

    3. Make the Batter: Cream the butter and sugar, then mix in the eggs. Add flour, cocoa powder, and milk. Stir until smooth.

    4. Bake the Cakes: Divide the batter into the pans and bake for 20 minutes. Check with a fork – if it comes out clean, they’re done!

    5. Cool the Cakes: Let them cool in the pans, then turn them onto a wire rack.

    6. Make the Frosting: Heat cream, add butter, honey, and chocolate. Stir gently until smooth and glossy.

    7. Assemble the Cake: Spread frosting on one cake layer, stack the second on top, and frost the whole cake.

    8. Decorate: Add almonds around the sides, then top with shaved chocolate and cherries.
